Bit.ly linker is a WordPress plugin that will automatically create bit.ly links for each post that you publish. You can specify Google tracking code so that the bit.ly link is automatically tracked in Google Analytics.

- In WordPress settings you will see Bitly Linker Settings
- Enter your Bitly username API Key and Analytics data
- Add the Bitly Linker widget to your sidebar

Google Analytics traditional hasn’t dealt with bit.ly links very well, they log them as direct traffic and you have no way of knowing how well (or badly) a particular link is doing. Now with bit.ly linker you can add personalised tracking code to the link so that Analytics will register is differently and you will be able to properly track the success of your links.
