Celebrity Death Pool displays a compact, customizable box listing the most quoted
celebrities of the week, ranked by their weekly score, with a call-to-action
button linking back to the official site.
Features:

number of celebrities (1–20), title, subtitle, list label, button text,

External service
This plugin relies on a third-party service to retrieve the ranking data:
the Celebrity Death Pool public API.
- What it is and why it is used: the plugin fetches the weekly celebrity quotes
(name, score, image and id) to render the leaderboard. Without this call the
box has no data to display. - When data is sent: on the front end (cached for 10 minutes) and when you open
the plugin settings page (a live, uncached test). - Endpoint contacted:
https://www.celebritydeathpool.co.uk/api/celebrity/quotes - Data transmitted: a standard HTTP GET request. The request
User-Agent
header includes your site’s home URL so the service can identify the caller.
No personal data of your visitors is sent. - Service provider, terms and privacy policy:

Installazione
- Upload the
celebrity-death-poolfolder to/wp-content/plugins/, or install
the ZIP from Plugins Add New Upload Plugin. - Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” menu in WordPress.
- Go to Settings Celebrity Death Pool to customize it.
- Add the shortcode
[celebrity_quotes]to any page/post, or add the
“Celebrity Death Pool” widget from Appearance Widgets.

How do I show the box?

Paste
[celebrity_quotes]into a page or post, or use the widget. It uses the
settings configured on the settings page automatically. -
Can I override settings for a single placement?

Yes:
[celebrity_quotes count="10" target=""]. Shortcode attributes take
precedence over the saved settings. -
It says “Ranking not available right now”. What do I do?

Open Settings Celebrity Death Pool and check the “API connection status” box.
If it fails, your server is likely blocking outbound HTTP requests or has
outdated SSL certificates — ask your host to allow outbound requests. -
Does it change the data source if I edit the “Link to open” field?

No. The data source is fixed in the code. The “Link to open” field only changes
where clicks lead, and it only accepts links on the official domain.
