I have been testing all the major AI chatbot plugins for WordPress (including Envato/Themeforest ones) over the past month, and MX Chat definitely shows the most promise: Regular updates and improvements: I purchased the Pro version early on (November 2024) and can see just how much the plugin has improved since. None of the other plugins I’ve tested come close (just minor fixes here and there, no major new features)… Range of models supported: I believe MX Chat is the only plugin to support OpenAI, X.AI (Grok), Claude & Deepseek. Range of features: chat transcripts, Live Agent Transfer, email capture, intents, AI agents, WooCommerce integration, AI training, etc – once again, I believe this to be THE most comprehensive set of features out there (or at least in the Top 2-3). UI/UIX: after the latest UI revamp, MX Chat is by far the most user-friendly chatbot plugin in this directory. Other plugins tend to be rather messy and unnecessarily complicated. MX Chat achieves the exact same results (and more!) with a much cleaner and leaner interface. Effecient and responsive Support: Maxwell has been incredibly helpful and “hands-on”. With some of the other (paid) plugins, I was waiting for ages and/or only receiving one support response per week… AI Chatbot Training: this is the most important feature for me. Most of the other chatbot plugins simply help you generate a single file which contains all the training data – which you then sometimes have to upload to the OpenAI website (fine for a one-off training, but becomes impossible when you have a knowledgebase that is being constantly updated). Whereas MX Chat has a brilliant Knowledge Base Manager which allows you to:A) submit/import Sitemaps (i.e. all content from your website is added automatically)B) import PDFsC) import individual URLsD) add direct/custom contentE) auto-sync Posts/Pages (this is a unique and much-needed feature when your knowledgebase is growing!)F) edit/delete individual items from your Knowledge Base (only one other WP plugin lets you do that – and it’s a very expensive Themeforest one!)G) search inside your knowledgebase (have not seen this anywhere else!)MX Chat then automatically (and within seconds) adds all of the above to your knowledgebase and trains the AI chatbot.Disclosure: I have NOT reviewed/tested any of the third-party AI chatbot services (i.e. where you buy a subscription and they simply provide an embed code/plugin to add their chatbot to your WordPress website). I am only focusing on (and comparing MX Chat to) WordPress-native plugins that run in your Admin dashboard.

We saw this plugin on Reddit and decided to try out on our website. Within one hour we have an AI agent set up that have knowledge of our products and can route customers to corresponding pages. Later we got into a big data issue as we have 2500+ products, and the support is mind-blowing. Highly recommend!
